BJU Press has a team of experienced homeschool consultants whose goal is to give advice on teaching as well as providing tips on getting started homeschooling, organizing, scheduling, grading, teaching more than one child, and teaching children with special needs.
Our team also works closely with the Academy of Home Education to assist member families with specific academic needs. Our consultants are here to help and encourage you as you educate your children.
Emily Largent is from Louisville, Kentucky. After graduating from Bob Jones University in 1974, she taught for two years at Bob Jones Elementary School. After receiving her master's degree in Special Education, she not only taught special education classes but also taught in a one-room schoolhouse. She then homeschooled her seven children for 21 years. In 2004, the Lord directed her family back to BJU, and she began working at BJU Press as a homeschool consultant.
With her vast experience in homeschooling, Emily enjoys the opportunity to help and encourage other homeschooling families.
Pam received her bachelor's degree from Bob Jones University in 1979 and her master's degree in Special Education in 1990. She spent 17 years teaching in five different schools and then stayed at home caring for her three children, twin sons and a daughter. In 1998, the Lord placed a burden on her heart to homeschool her own children. She taught all three from kindergarten to the beginning of third grade. In 2004, she came on staff at BJU Press as a homeschool consultant for special-needs children. She also works closely with the Academy of Home Education and helps parents interpret test scores.
Pam especially enjoys consulting with customers who struggle to teach their exceptional children.
