We have been using this edition this year with the DVDs. My daughter and I have learned a TON. Because the material is so thorough (wide and deep), it can be a bit challenging but given this is an 8th grade textbook, I feel she is now prepared for high school science. The labs were fun, educational, and easy enough to do. If you have a kid who enjoys science and or is college bound, this is an excellent curriculum to fill that love and start truly preparing them for high school level work.

This book has been very useful to my students. I would like to see more scientific evidences for creation in future editions.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Susie Dry, boring, and lacking.
Dry, boring, and lacking. This about sums up my experience with this text. There are so many GREAT curriculum materials out there, however, because I teach at a Christian school, we are not able to purchase them. Other books are leaps and bounds better than this, especially for middle school. I would rather my school let me create all my own curriculum rather than use this book.

I have enjoyed teaching my 8th graders out of this book this year. It provided appropriate Biblical teachings to connect with the real world lessons, and that immensely helped the students appreciate the lessons more. The pictures in the book were a nice reference. The section reviews and end-of chapter reviews were sufficient. Two changes I would like to suggest for the next edition ar e: 1. For it to be an easier read for the students; and 2. Incorporate some Physical Science topics, especially the Periodic Chart of Elements.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by KCAScience Very good text. Some sections seem to be high school level.
Have taught from this text for several years now. I really like the flow of the chapters and the Student Activities resources in the back. The illustrations / photos are helpful, and the section review questions are good. Some of the material is a little bit beyond our seventh graders, but all in all I think it is a very good textbook for our Earth/Space Science course.
