Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent program for Homeschooling. I use this series for teaching homeschool- it built beautifully upon principles learned in kindergarten. The lessons are creative and challenging, and integrate Biblical principles. The support materials are helpful in teaching and reinforcing the lessons. I highly recommend this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Phonics and English 1 I love how the English and Phonics curriculum goes hand in hand with the Reading Curriculum. Sometimes I find the work text a little difficult for my first graders to follow, but we make it through. This may be because many of them are not able to independently read the instructions. Overall I feel this is a quality work text.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't like! Bad product! I tried to use just this and the Teachers Edition, but you have to buy all the extras or it does not work. This is hard to use, way too complicated and expensive. I love other BJU products but I don't like this Phonics and English at all!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good however: I think all of BJU materials are good and very complete. Their ease of use is very lacking and it's a shame because the material is so good. My girls love the stories and worksheets are colorful and all the educational facts are in there. When you sit down to teach you have all the information right there that they need to know but tools are all over the place, they might be in a visual packet, they might on the cd rom in one of many folders that you have to look through. This could all be easily fixed if BJU would print in their lesson plan, you need this and it is found here... and this and it is found here ..., instead of just saying you need worksheet v8 and c24. It is a minor thing but it really adds to the length of the school day and to interruptions to the teaching process, especially when teaching multiple ages.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am very pleased with the BJU Phonics & English The BJU Phonics & English is laid out very clearly and is easy for even a busy mom to use! It proceeds at a pace that is easy for a 1st grader to learn without frustration. My two-year-old enjoys the lessons along with my 1st grader.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent cirriculum I loved BJU's 1st Grade cirriculum. The Phonics, Spelling, and Reading all work together to reinforce each new concept being learned. My only problem with the Phonics book is that BJU states that "W" is sometimes a vowel.
