I really appreciate having a balanced mix of writing and grammar in an English book. Grammar lessons are well-written, building on what was learned in the previous lesson. The writing lessons are practical, easy to follow and not extremely time-consuming. The only draw-back that we have found with this book is that it is sometimes hard to see where one lesson ends and the next begins. There is no "lesson 1, 2, 3..." and some lessons go for several pages, beginning or ending in the middle of a page. The teacher's manual helps somewhat, but even it can be hard to tell what is included in each individual lesson. For home schoolers that sometimes work on their own, it is nice to have a clear beginning and ending for each lesson.

I'm not sure why so much bible has to be woven into An algebra book. it's a distraction and completely unnecessary. it's fine To be Christian and have Christian values taught in school, but relax in the bible stuff. there's bible classes and bible events at our Christian school. it makes the book weird to shoehorn bible lessons in an algebra book.

We've used BJU Press Language Arts since K-5. I appreciate the systematic "review and add some new" each year. I like the intro at the beginning of each unit. The grammar lessons are a nice length. The sentences used for the practice sets are full of interesting information. Even though it adds expense, I like the consumable text; students can spend more time focusing on the concept and less on time on writing the lessons on paper.

The BJU Press English curriculum is a fantastic program that can reach both the academically advanced and those who are not quite as familiar with the fundamentals of English grammar. The book does a great job explaining terms and processes of how to manipulate a sentence word-by-word. Our students have certainly excelled in the grammar department using this book. There are two areas that could be modified to better serve the students - charts and the writing sections. Even in middle school, students seem to really learn and be able to memorize well from charts. If there were corresponding charts to use with each chapter as references, that could prove to be helpful. Also the writing sections are somewhat minimal in their expectations of each writing piece. The assignments themselves are good and there is always an example. However, the book is not clear on how each assignment is to be written or what aspects are to be included. This could be helpful to not only the teacher, but also the students.

Our school has recently switched Literature curriculums to use BJU Press. We have found that the comprehension expectations are higher than our previous curriculum as well as the critical thinking skills. The curriculum has so much to offer that it seems nearly impossible to fit it all in in one semester. We love that there are so many different facets of this book including oral reading, reading comprehension, writing assignments, and class discussion prompts.

I bought this geography book for my daughter who is going into 9th grade. The value was good. This book comes for a good price.I would say that the ease of use was fair but the Section weren't marked clearly at all.The quality is okay for the pictures and text. This book is very thorough and went into details about the text.It is very well written with lots of information that is well researched. It is filled with colorful pictures that your student will enjoy.Overall me and my daughter thought that this book was just average. I would only like to warn those of you parents. This book is very heavy information. If your student isn't like that, like a computer's mind maybe you shouldn't consider it.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by Teachermom Tests were frustrating
So far, two of my kids have used the BJU Cultural Geography curriculum. While they did enjoy the text, we found the tests frustrating. So many times, questions were chosen on minutial content that was not the emphasis of the chapter. Although, they gained much from the text, that knowledge didn't translate into the test scores. We had to make them open book in order to help scores better reflect what they had learned. I would love to see the tests rewritten to question understanding of the main thrusts of the chapters, rather than details that were not central to the main points of the chapter.

The maps are a great review of the material. The other activities complement the reading and classroom discussions.
