Mr. Daryl Kopp, BA

Mr. Daryl Kopp, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningMr. Kopp grew up in an unsaved family and trusted Christ at 16 years of age, putting the much-needed perspective in his life that had been so miserably absent. Since then, he has been devoted to the Word of God. Reading, studying, teaching, and preaching God’s Word have been a passion, whether teaching fifth-grade Sunday school classes, preaching at youth camps, starting churches in Kenya and Ireland, or teaching Bible in college. "The fruit of all Bible study is to know Christ more intimately, love and adore Him more completely, walk with Him more faithfully, and live for Him more passionately. My goal is to help your student know the facts and stories of the Bible in such a way that Christ is the obvious focal point. I pray that my students will see Christ and be excited about a life of commitment to Him, joyfully exemplifying the heart of Christ when He said, ‘Not my will, but thine, be done.’"

Mrs. Sherri Vick, BS

Mrs. Sherri Vick, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningSherri Vick previously taught various elementary and junior high grades. "I like to look at the picture as a whole—to relate one subject to another so that the child can see how God’s plan fits together. I want the child to want to learn, so the lessons have to be fun. Hands-on is the best way, so I don’t want the student to just watch, but participate too! One of my goals is that, after watching the lessons, your child will continue in the things he has learned and develop lifelong learning skills that he can use both now and in the future."

Mr. Jamie Swingle, BA, MED

Mr. Jamie Swingle, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningMr. Swingle has 7 years of teaching experience and a genuine love for history. "My desire for my students is to give them a realization that the study of history is essential to gaining a better understanding of God; God often reveals Himself through His dealings with man, which is exactly what history is. It is impossible to study history without seeing the providence of God."

Miss Rebekah Pringle, BA, MA

Miss Rebekah Pringle, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningMiss Pringle's interest in literature began at an early age through her mother's almost daily reading aloud of good literature as a part of her family's school day. The past 10 years of focused study and teaching in the disciplines of Creative Writing and English have increased Miss Pringle's delight and enthusiasm in analyzing and evaluating all genres of literature. “Everyone loves a story. A well-crafted story, poem, essay, or drama delights me on several levels, but it's the benefit of gaining an increased understanding and appreciation of God's inspired literature, His Word, that motivates me to apply and grow in my own literary analysis skills and to do my best to instill in my students a similar desire for and delight in literature. It's my prayer that as we enjoy great literary works together we will be inspired to love and pursue God's truth presented in His greatest Book of literature.”

Mr. Bill Harmon, BS

Mr. Bill Harmon, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningBill Harmon has loved science for as long as he can remember. After completing his B.S. in Chemistry, he returned to Florida where he gained experience teaching a variety of subjects: science, math, Latin, and computer courses. Now he works as a chemist in the Safety Services Office at BJU, teaches Distance Learning Physics and Algebra, and teaches Chemistry at Bob Jones Academy. He is currently pursuing an M.Ed. in Secondary Education. He and his wife Mary Ann have two children, Brian and Janette. His favorite Bible verse is II Timothy 3:14.

Rated 2 out of 5 by This is an outdated video I was very disappointed to find this video is so out of date. In my opinion Science is an ever changing subject and it should be one of the most updated videos. The content is not horrible but It is lacking in some of the latest discoveries. The dvd we are currently on (Chapter 4) seems to skip quite often. November 14, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Engaging Daughter is finding the reading engaging and enjoyable. All the reading is in one book. We love the way Ms. Pringle explains the text and points out God's truth for us. Initially the format was a little overwhelming with the video schedule and the daily schedule and jumping back and forth for work. In addition to that the numbers do not start at Day 1, they start with Day 91. We are now on Unit 2 and finding that we can navigate much better through the work. I pull out everything we need for one unit and keep it in a packet which seems to be working for us. April 29, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Subject matter is good but teacher materials are poorly organized I am new to BJU curriculum. After using other curriculum with better teacher's guides I am having a hard time liking the set up of the BJU teacher manual for Space and Earth Science with DVDs. It is hard to read, hard to find information, etc. The lesson #'s and assignments can be confusing. I realize it is still early in our school year and we will get better used to these things but I am disappointed. The subject matter and DVD classes have been good however. :) October 4, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by very good Very thorough course. I believe my daughter is learning a lot. I'm sure they are difficult to produce, but the look appears a bit outdated. September 23, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by american republic dvd The teacher for this class seems to just talk on and on.It is very boring for my daughter ,who normally loves history.I am disappointed in the way this was done. She has not retained much of what the teacher taught her ,so we are having to start over,I am sad to say. Rated 5 out of 5 by Could be more organized The curriculum as a whole needs to be more streamlined & in sync. I. E. Some quizzes are in the test packet some are in the student lesson guide some are in the video lesson guide. The revision made to grade 6 is an example of what needs to be done to grade 8 August 28, 2015
