Academically, the program is excellent. It covers all the important topics in a smartly organized way, and gives the student all the tools they need to handle new concepts. It's a great mix of learning new things, drilling, review, and playing games.
My daughter enjoys the characters, the games they play, and the other things they learn about (Bible verses, construction, countries around the world). When she's not frustrated, she finds the program a lot of fun.
However, the program is not super easy to use. There are three problems that frequently frustrate us.
First, the video lessons often go too fast for her. She has to pause them frequently or she falls behind. Sometimes they are drilling math facts too quickly for her; other times, they are just setting up materials in a complicated way that takes time. This really frustrates my daughter - it makes her feel like she can't keep up, even if she is working really hard and understands the math concepts perfectly.
Second, the book of manipulatives. It's hard to punch out the items, it takes a long time, they often tear, and taking them out leaves a plethora of paper fibers all over the floor.
Third, the instructions are fairly disorganized. Often, the website tells me to put the wrong materials in the folder. E.g., some of those materials aren't used; other materials are needed but not listed; or the wrong amount is listed. (For example, it might say she needs 16 Unifix cubes and the number line, when actually she needs 30 cubes and the number packet.) This doesn't happen every day, but it happens often enough to annoy both of us - she has to pause in the middle of a lesson to get me to get more materials.
HOWEVER, I will keep using BJU math, because I think it's worth it, despite all the trouble. My daughter loves math and is learning everything she needs to learn.

My husband & I both have math degrees and our daughter has a creative, playful, "there has to be some fun" to learn personality. This curriculm meets our goal of a very sound number theory, logic, problem sovling curriculum balanced in a fun way with math fact drill. The only negitive is after my son has used BJU Press online, we were used to the daily extra pages being listed for us each day with the lesson... we click and print, easy! However, after ordering the online Math 2 we were disappoint to realize online was not availiable until June. Then we had to send our first order back, then order the CD Math 2 curriculum! It was more costly, too! Next, the CD verses Online programs requires the parent to search with in the PDF files on 2 resource CDs for the extra pages needed each day, unlike the Online that list the day with a link directly to a particular page of pdf and then print. Lastly, after looking through the Schedule of Lessons and Records page, something called "Student Reviews" was listed for a grade each day; however, this didn't come in the Grade 2 Math CD kit! So, yes, it is listed as optional, but is 2 pages of math per day to do in addition to 1 worktext page the student is do by her/his self. So, we placed another order for just the Math 2 Student Reviews again this was another $20 plus shipping! Concluding, we love the product, but would recommend the Math 2 Online over the Math 2 CD program and strongly suggest ordering the Math Reviews with your order!
