Life Science for Distance Learning

Life Science (3rd edition) introduces the living world with all its wonders. Updated content on organism classification, cellular biology, genetics, and the differences between Creation and evolution provide a firm foundation for the chapters on microbiology, botany, zoology, ecology, and human anatomy that follow. All this is presented using a thoroughly Christian worldview that encourages the student to worship the Creator and serve his neighbor through the study and application of the life sciences.

Mrs. Sherri Vick, BS

Mrs. Sherri Vick, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningSherri Vick previously taught various elementary and junior high grades. "I like to look at the picture as a whole—to relate one subject to another so that the child can see how God’s plan fits together. I want the child to want to learn, so the lessons have to be fun. Hands-on is the best way, so I don’t want the student to just watch, but participate too! One of my goals is that, after watching the lessons, your child will continue in the things he has learned and develop lifelong learning skills that he can use both now and in the future."

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for younger than 7th grade; needs 3rd Edition books My kids and I have enjoyed the online science courses by Mrs. VIck. We have found them all to be good for an age younger than what it is labeled, so my 4th and 6th grader are doing fine with the Life Science material. Please note that this version of the online Life Science requires THIRD EDITION books, NOT the 4th Edition books that are currently being sold separately. We found this out the hard way. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Science course for 7th grade! My daughter switched to the DLO Life Science class after trying a different science curriculum for a few weeks. She likes the Life Science class with Mrs. Vick so much better because she really enjoys the subject and also does well with the online classes (she is a strong visual learner). It is a lot of work (she spends 1 to 1.5 hours per day), but she is enjoying it and learning a lot. Mrs. Vick is a wonderful teacher. I highly recommend this class especially for students with a strong interest in life sciences/biology. My daughter will be very well prepared for high school biology after taking this class.
