Resources for Black History Month

February is Black History Month. Black History Month provides a great opportunity to study the lives of African Americans along with your usual homeschool curriculum. In addition to studying well-known African American figures, take the time to consider black Americans who have influenced the world for Christ.

Dr. Mark Sidwell's book, Free Indeed is a history of black American church leaders. It includes a number of biographical sketches of leading black Christians and shows how their deep love for Christ and others made them particuarly effective in proclaiming the way of salvation and the equality of all men and women in God’s sight.

In addition to Free Indeed and its companion resources, you may find the following book list helpful as you prepare your lessons.
