Rated 4 out of 5Â by DawnInPA Fun little booklets
This set of booklets for kindergartners is very good for the beginning reader to get used to the idea of reading. The child practices reading with a parent several times with the same book, so that they gain confidence in that set of words.

I home schooled my four for twenty-nine years. Now I have a grandson that will be home schooled. The materials I used are gone, but this is a good comparison. The one thing missing is a full version of the alphabet song to use with the child. That was very helpful when I taught. No where do I see the words for each letter to teach the sounds of the letters. Now I am going off of memory here. I have always considered K to be the most crucial year taught. This needs to be brought back in on the next revision.

Our teacher and students love these resources. The colors are beautiful and the "stories" engaging. Seems like the "Words at Work" and "Reading Guide" pages should be switched, since the Reading Guide is obviously for the teacher and means nothing to the student. Another suggestion - thicker paper. We decided to use volunteer help to disassemble, laminate and reassemble to make them last longer. $47 per student will hopefully make these last three (or more) years.

This is my first experience with BJU for kindergarten. I have recently discovered BJU for my older child and have loved their language/reading program for 2nd and third grade. For kindergarten I had to break my budget to buy all the needed items for their Beginnings curriculum. However, my biggest challenge is finding what the curriculum is asking for. For instance, some learning song are in the back of one book or maybe in the front of another. Work pages are the same. Except for the workbook pages, the other work sheets send me on a scavenger hunt trying to find them. As far as the content, it is supurb.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by MyThreeSons Very helpful for review
We purchased these solely to have the word family cards for review. They have gotten much use and it was so much easier than creating my own. They also include all of the letter charts but because we're a homeschool, we don't have need of such large charts. They are the same charts that are in the Phonics and Review packet. I gave the four star rating on value because though it saved me a lot of time making word family cards, half of the packet were charts that we didn't use because of space.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Kathie Overall-excellent
I was very disappointed this year to discover that the quality of paper being used in the Reading Books has been changed. The books now are flimsy and "cheap" looking. They will not last the students all year for review at home. You can see through the paper to the other side. I used to praise the quality of these books to my parents but am sorry I can't do that this year. The thin paper does not do the artwork justice. Please go back to using the higher quality paper.

Easy to use. Having the sight words ready to review is convenient.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by gilbert6j Great addition to curriculum
I set the whole curriculum up into centers in my classroom. This is great for center work and my kids can do it independently! Very age appropriate.
