Rated 4 out of 5 by DJack 2nd Grade English Grammar Book
I appreciate the format & content of this 2nd Grade English Grammar book. It covers the material that is needed in an organized & easy-to-follow method. There is occasional Christian references in the content. The only criticism I have is that the cover immediately lifts off the book. I'm sure it is to tear out the pages easily, but the binding does not seem to be that sturdy. I am happy with the overall book and plan on using it in my classroom in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Witkey Glad we went with BJU
We love BJU English Grammar. It's colorful, easy to use, and the lessons are broken down so it's not overwhelming. I will continue to use BJU for English.

Rated 3 out of 5 by doubletwins Good content but poor construction
I've been using BJU Press English 2 for 7 years. The content is great. This was the first year I received the workbooks and the bindings have changed, and not for the better from my teaching perspective. The bindings were updated to make it easier to pull the pages out. Now ALL the pages fall out all the time. It's a constant struggle to keep the work books together and tidy. There are holes for inserting the workbooks into a 3-ringed binder but if I have to buy a binder then why not just have them attached in the original binding better? The cover hasn't stayed on since the first use. It would be nice if BJU press either offered loose pages for those who want them or bound workbooks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by NYMommy Good and thorough
I like the illustrations and explanations being on the same page as the child's work. Everything was presented gradually and then thoroughly. It is very useful in teaching grammatical concepts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jackie Highly Recommend
I love how this integrates writing and grammar. One unit on writing and then a unit on grammar. Explains grammar in an easy way and explains how to write paragraphs step by step. Helps ease the struggle of getting thoughts onto the paper for kids.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tiffeny BJU's second grade English is challenging and fun!
I love BJU's elementary grades English! The material is just right for the grade level, but academically sound. The grammar chapters have very small amounts of writing or speaking to apply the concepts; so it is not too intimidating for young writers but does show them why they are learning grammar. The writing chapters have clear, step-by-step guidance in practical, engaging writing assignments. Plus, the teacher's edition has great ideas to help teach the concepts. The student has a minilesson that reviews the critical points in the lesson at the top of each day's colorful worksheet. Immediately after that are a few questions of the same type asked on the back--but these samples are to do together so that each student knows what to expect and how to apply the teaching. This exercise together leads naturally to the back side of the paper, where students work on their own. I have used many different curricula over the years, and I must say that BJU is the best at preparing students for college with quality, academically rigorous coursework. It all starts with a strong foundation in beginning a child's education.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Debi Easy to use, like the way Writing is incorporated along with Grammar
So far, this English 2 worktext has been easy to use. It's nice to have the guided practice along with the instruction page, and independent practice page to reinforce the concepts learned. I really like the way writing is incorporated in between the Grammar chapters. My grandson has been encouraged to do more writing and the Writing chapters have made it a lot of "fun" for him. It has helped to free me from having to come up with my own ideas for teaching writing.
