Rated 5 out of 5 by English 5 subject kit I have used this curriculum both as a teacher in the classroom and as a homeschool mom. I started with another curriculum for homeschooling, but it was so difficult to use, I switched back to BJ. I like several things about this curriculum. 1) It is one page, front and back. 2) It is one concept, not multiple concepts. 3) It is easy to use: both teacher and kid friendly. 4) I love the extra practice on the back that allows the student to try on their own, but go back to the front to look up stuff as needed. The only negative I have to say is that sometimes (about every 2-3 weeks) there is a "question" that is not the best and can have a confusing example embedded within. August 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by "English is my favorite subject!" This is my first year homeschooling. My fifth grader says her favorite subject is English and that I believe has a lot to do with BJU curriculum. It is extremely well layed out with easy to follow teaching instructions. The extra work pages are a great bonus, as well as the other tools found on the included CD. I love this product and have already recommended it to many homeschooling moms. November 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easy to use We enjoy using this workbook because of the large print & colorful illustrations. It is also easy to use and understand for my son. October 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The teachers like this for their 4th. and 5th. grade. The teachers feel that your English fills the needs of her classroom. September 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Useful Pleased with how easy it is to teach from this book, I love using the grammar part of this book. I love the simple explanations of grammar concepts and examples. I have tried other grammar books and keep coming back to this one. I am more selective with the writing chapters. All the writing structure in the book is well written with examples, but it lacks style. In fact, I would go so far as to say it does not teach style at all. The writing exercises are stale. Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic!!! Love BJU program...presented well and easy to teach from manual. Keeps kids interested. I used Abeka for 5 years...wish I would have started with BJU. My kids love this program so much better...and so do I. When kids are happy, makes a happy Momma!!!! May 11, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Useful I'm new this year to home schooling, so I'm still checking out the thousands of materials that are available. English 5 is serving the purpose, but I'm not sure at this point if I will use it again. The CD should have a better index to allow easier location when printing extra work. March 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Teaches excellent writing! I love Bob Jones grammar because the series makes it so easy to teach the writing process. This book integrates grammar with an interesting variety of writing assignments (different ones from other years), each showing the step-by-step process for thinking through, planning, and reworking the piece. The parts of speech in this book are well-taught - clear with enough review without overkill. The one thing I would like to see at this level is more punctuation; only the basics are touched on. I recommend this book. July 27, 2013
