Mrs. Kristin Dunn, BS, MEd

Mrs. Kristin Dunn, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningMrs. Dunn loves children and enjoys teaching them to explore new concepts. "My goal is to encourage spiritual growth as students prepare for the future. Learning is a lifelong process, and I hope to communicate the importance of learning to your student."

Mrs. Sherri Vick, BS

Mrs. Sherri Vick, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningSherri Vick previously taught various elementary and junior high grades. "I like to look at the picture as a whole—to relate one subject to another so that the child can see how God’s plan fits together. I want the child to want to learn, so the lessons have to be fun. Hands-on is the best way, so I don’t want the student to just watch, but participate too! One of my goals is that, after watching the lessons, your child will continue in the things he has learned and develop lifelong learning skills that he can use both now and in the future."

Mrs. Debra Overly, BS, MS

Mrs. Debra Overly, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningMrs. Overly, a mother of three, has experience teaching several elementary grades. "I want to encourage each child to look forward to learning each day and also to provide sufficient practice and review activities to help alleviate mom’s workload. Most importantly, I want to present Christ in each subject that I teach. Each child should hear the gospel and then see in a very practical way how it can change a sinner."

Miss Tara Liston, BA, MAT

Mrs. Evanna Walker, BS

He should be able to appreciate what he reads, draw conclusions, and make value judgments to become a thinker.”

Mrs. Tawnja Schaffner, BS, MEd

Mrs. Tawnja Schaffner, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningMrs. Schaffner has previously taught all the elementary grades. "I grew up on the mission field of the Netherlands. Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 17 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice Addition This is a nice cursive writing program. My son is enjoying learning how to write in cursive -- FYI if you are just beginning cursive, you may want to do 3rd grade instead - it is challenging for my fellow and does require a lot of assistance as he was unfamiliar with cursive. Rated 5 out of 5 by Entertaining English Our 9 y/o loves the teacher and learns a lot - solid foundations :) March 12, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Enjoyable Math Program Well scripted -- clear and concise -- extra practice if you need it! Life saver for busy parents. :) March 12, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Grade 4 and 6 Online This is our first year with BJU press online, and I am very pleased to say that this program is very content rich and engaging for both of my boys. I have more time to help them with questions and individual understanding since the teaching videos are so thorough. We intend to stay with this program for the foreseeable future. Thanks BJU! Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Curriculum The curriculum is top notch and my children thoroughly enjoy the dvd lessons (as well as myself). The only issue I have with BJ is the change with the products. They have stopped providing the hard copy of the teacher's manual (online now). Instead, I received a TON of wasted paper. July 31, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Vacation Station I have used this series for all 4 of my children, the oldest now being a junior in high school. The material is excellent, covering a little of both literature and math everyday. It does not take long and is a great tool to keep things fresh over the summer. Highly recommend all of the workbooks in this series! August 11, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Good Balance As a teacher, I had been consistently unimpressed with the quality and scope of other supplemental learning materials reviewed. The Vacation Stations booklet my son completed was outstanding! He enjoyed the materials because they were the perfect balance between reviewing what he had already learned and preparing him for the next step in his learning process. August 7, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by First Time User This is our first academic year with BJU and utilizing a distance learning approach rather than a parent/teacher approach. So far, so good! We have been using the curriculum for about seven weeks and look forward to a full year of excellent learning. We are pleased with all of the materials and their content. My daughter enjoys most of the lectures with the exception of a few "dated" lectures that do not have a higher level of energy from the teacher. Grade 4 needs a bit of an update in the lectures; however, content of material is very good. The spelling curriculum seems less challenging than what we have used in previous years from other sources. We are supplementing for this one subject. Math 4 is cumbersome in asking students to process work from four different sources. We have reorganized how we utilize the math exercises to eliminate the daily back and forth between so many sources. Handwriting is not necessary for students who already know how to write in cursive - my daughter enjoys the adventures in the lectures, but the exercises are a bit of busy work for her since she learned cursive writing two years ago. Bible, English, and Reading are our top favorites. I appreciate the richness of both Bible and Reading and find the English curriculum to be grade appropriate without demanding too much writing from a younger learner. Science and History are engaging and insightful allowing for enjoyment of learning. We choose to bypass many of the science experiments and still find the subject content to offer plenty of exposure to the topics covered in the course. For those desiring a home learning experience that launches your child from parent/child learning to a lecturer/learner environment, BJU is a great choice. After seven years of parent/child teaching/learning, this is a breath of fresh air for our entire family. It was time to make a shift and provide my children with some new voices of instruction that I could trust while still maintaining the home learning environment. BJU offers some excellent teachers whose voices are providing meaningful instruction with Godly encouragement. August 4, 2015
