Mr. Daryl Kopp, BA

Mr. Daryl Kopp, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningMr. Kopp grew up in an unsaved family and trusted Christ at 16 years of age, putting the much-needed perspective in his life that had been so miserably absent. Since then, he has been devoted to the Word of God. Reading, studying, teaching, and preaching God’s Word have been a passion, whether teaching fifth-grade Sunday school classes, preaching at youth camps, starting churches in Kenya and Ireland, or teaching Bible in college. "The fruit of all Bible study is to know Christ more intimately, love and adore Him more completely, walk with Him more faithfully, and live for Him more passionately. My goal is to help your student know the facts and stories of the Bible in such a way that Christ is the obvious focal point. I pray that my students will see Christ and be excited about a life of commitment to Him, joyfully exemplifying the heart of Christ when He said, ‘Not my will, but thine, be done.’"

Mrs. Sherri Vick, BS

Mrs. Sherri Vick, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningSherri Vick previously taught various elementary and junior high grades. "I like to look at the picture as a whole—to relate one subject to another so that the child can see how God’s plan fits together. I want the child to want to learn, so the lessons have to be fun. Hands-on is the best way, so I don’t want the student to just watch, but participate too! One of my goals is that, after watching the lessons, your child will continue in the things he has learned and develop lifelong learning skills that he can use both now and in the future."

Mrs. Cynthia Bullock, BS

Mrs. Cynthia Bullock, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningAfter graduating from Bob Jones University in 1987, Cynthia Bullock went on to teach history in Virginia, Michigan, Florida, and North Carolina. It was in Michigan that she met her husband, who was the math teacher in the Christian school where they served together for 17 years. They have four children, three girls and a boy. She took ten years off to stay home with them since three of the four are profoundly deaf. When they mainstreamed into a normal classroom, she returned to the classroom. The Lord led her here to BJU Press Distance Learning in 2011. “I'm so excited about having your child as my student. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to serve you by coming along side and lightening your load.”

Mr. Timothy Snow, BA, MS

Mr. Timothy Snow, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningMr. Snow grew up in a pastor’s home that encouraged service for Christ and saw the need for a solid, Christian education. His parents often sacrificed to see that each of their children was in a Christian school or that they were homeschooled with Christian curriculum. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in history and a Master’s degree in secondary education, he began teaching in Christian schools. In the past twenty years he has served as a Christian school teacher and principal, and God has allowed him to instruct students in history, grammar, literature, and Bible. Mr. Snow also enjoys reading and he is always in search of new books or stories to read. In Explorations in Literature, Mr. Snow desires to pass along his passion for a solid Christian education as well as his love of reading and understanding literature.

Mr. Bill Harmon, BS

Mr. Bill Harmon, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningBill Harmon has loved science for as long as he can remember. After completing his B.S. in Chemistry, he returned to Florida where he gained experience teaching a variety of subjects: science, math, Latin, and computer courses. Now he works as a chemist in the Safety Services Office at BJU, teaches Distance Learning Physics and Algebra, and teaches Chemistry at Bob Jones Academy. He is currently pursuing an M.Ed. in Secondary Education. He and his wife Mary Ann have two children, Brian and Janette. His favorite Bible verse is II Timothy 3:14.

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love the curriculum, not parent's pages The curriculum is terrific and I like the way a common theme is woven through every subject. The puppetry is a little juvenile for older kids, but I think it's cute. The only part I have a hard time with is the parent's pages. It's difficult to understand and I hate not having a hard copy of the teacher's manuals. It's hard to review quizzes and tests and not be able to have the manuals right there to offer explanations. I needed someone to sit there with me and go through them. Overall, you can't beat BJU press. I thinks it's the best that can be found. January 13, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love this homeschool resource. We are really enjoying the online instruction and materials. The teaching and material are excellent. While my 7th grader is completing the full curriculum, my 4th grader is joining in listening and discussing the reading and video presentation. All 3 of us read the material, watch the videos and discuss it together. The instructor is engaging enough for my 4th grader, explaining concepts thoroughly and visually. Thank you for making science so engaging and interesting and valuable!! The only 2 struggles that we have are: price is steep for our budget, we are struggling to get through the material - just too many wonderful videos. October 24, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent curriculum but... My 7th grade daughter has been using BJU for about two weeks. She is doing Pre-Algebra and U.S. History. Both are considered 8th grade. Everything else is 7th grade. I am very impressed with the level of instruction. My daughter is learning how to take notes and take a test. That's something I find very valuable since she plans on attending college one day. For the most part, the teachers are very engaging, and the lectures are interesting. The online format is pretty easy to follow. BJU seems to have mastered the art of technology/virtual classroom. Occasionally, there will be an assignment that the location of is not immediately clear, but I think we will experience less of that as time goes on. One negative to this program is the amount of time it takes to complete a day's work. There is no way we will be able to get through all the material this school year. BJU gives you a year and a half of online access. As much as I will dislike leaving things undone before we break for summer 2015, I can not think of a better solution. We will stop at the end of May, and we will resume where we left off in August. I wish that the videos weren't quite so long. It's also really difficult to skip ahead (such as skipping the introduction). For now, I am not making my daughter do some of the student activities. If I find she is not retaining the information then I will have to re-evaluate. My theory this year is "slow and steady wins the race." I pray that's good enough. September 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by We are very happy with the online school! We started using the Bob Jones online school in 6th grade and it was a pretty big adjustment. However the teachers and material and overall presentation was such that our daughter was inspired and rose to the challenge. I have to admit she also enjoyed the puppet shows and the humerous little stories along with the lessons! I think Bob Jones have done an excellent job! October 8, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by just starting out Well, i might have a different review once we get further into this course, but for now we are 8 days into our school year and only 5 days into the course. We are only 5 days into the course because the amount of work scheduled each day is more than my daughter can handle. This might change as she gets more accustomed to the format and we brainstorm ways to streamline her movement through the course, but for now we are finding it to be a very heavy load that takes an enormous amount of time out of her day. Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Resource to keep us on track As a parent I love it. The teacher is great. The content is great, not too young for my 7th grader. It helps us keep pace. I watch most videos with my son so I am current with the concepts and can better facilitate the lessons. However, my son can work independently and still move smoothly through the lessons. Its like having a private tutor assisting me. March 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Seventh Grade I love BJU curriculum. It is so well integrated with God's Word, each subject gets interwoven with other disciplines, prior knowledge is reviewed and then new material is introduced, and it's through. December 8, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by My son was insulted by the use of puppets in 7th grade My children love the science curriculum. This year my youngest had a lot of additional questions regarding cells. For a while I googled looking for the answers and then decided to buy the online classroom teacher. (We started in Chapter 6.) As soon as he saw the puppets he shut down on me with, "Seriously, Mom - Puppets in 7th grade!" My children always thought the use of puppets was distracting and babyish so we didn't use the dvds in elementary. I was surprised to see them in junior high. Thankfully you offer a full refund. We still use the books and google. #smile# January 13, 2014
