K5 Teacher Kit

The K5 preschool curriculum teaches kindergarteners to develop a broad base of interests by applying their natural curiosity. K5 Beginnings teaches the language arts such as reading, writing while incorporating heritage studies and science. K5 Math introduces basic math skills in a fun and engaging way.

The K5 Teacher Kit contains all the teacher materials for K5 Beginnings and K5 Math—6 items total. Not only do you save money but you also gain the strength of a unified curriculum. Though choosing textbooks from many sources may seem to provide flexibility and customization, using a complete curriculum of BJU Press materials lets students focus on learning rather than on navigating yet another perspective. BJU Press textbooks provide consistency in scriptural and academic standards—every subject, every grade. And our teacher’s editions and ancillary materials allow for generous flexibility and customization within a unified biblical worldview.

Please note that this kit is not compatible with Distance Learning.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ideas for Lessons I home schooled my four for twenty-nine years. Now I have a grandson that will be home schooled. The materials I used are gone, but this is a good comparison. The one thing missing is a full version of the alphabet song to use with the child. That was very helpful when I taught. No where do I see the words for each letter to teach the sounds of the letters. Now I am going off of memory here. I have always considered K to be the most crucial year taught. This needs to be brought back in on the next revision. December 5, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by More Info Overall I love this curriculum & the materials. However, it would be helpful to have more information in the teacher's manuals that is custom for homeschooling parents, especially those starting out the first year like we are. The first few weeks were a little cumbersome & quite a learning curve as many things are assumed to be known, as these teacher manuals are written professional teachers & not so much for homeschooling parents. Also, it would be great to have some of the activities adjusted for use in homeschool rather than large classroom settings. October 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Extremely Happy With This Program I was looking for a program that would help my 5 yr. old learn to think for himself as well as make sure he was staying ahead for the curve. I am pleased to say that while a child may not be learning as much academics in this program quiet as fast as with ABEKA they are learning how to think critically much earlier on with just the basic kit. This teaching kit is teaching me how to teach my son to be not just academically smart but also to change how I work with him so he learns to be more confident and independent from me. Not every child needs this but for the ones that do, this is fantastic! I love the inclusion of the scripture and I recommend the supplemental Bible program they have. Being that I am a first time teacher there have been a few things that challenged me and I couldn't figure them out but if you need help you can just call BJU and speak with their staff. They have people there just to help you with navigating your tools and with ideas and tips. September 29, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by I really love the product. My only complaint is it is set for a classroom and I am a homeschool mom. Ireally like this product. I like how most of the work is done for me which saves me a lot of time. My daughter loves the characters, which makes learning more fun. The only thing I would change is I wish they had a homeschool version. It isn't hard to change the lessons for one child from a classroom version but I wish it was already done for me. Sometimes I have to completely change an activity because it cannot be done with one child. Otherwise my daughter and I really enjoy it! October 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by First time homeschooling At first I was very nervous and scared... I had never known anyone to homeschool before, so I was walking into unknown territory. But when I got the books, opened them up and began using them, I found all of my fears melt away. Now I am confident in homeschooling.. Thank you BJU! October 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very helpful for review We purchased these solely to have the word family cards for review. They have gotten much use and it was so much easier than creating my own. They also include all of the letter charts but because we're a homeschool, we don't have need of such large charts. They are the same charts that are in the Phonics and Review packet. I gave the four star rating on value because though it saved me a lot of time making word family cards, half of the packet were charts that we didn't use because of space. November 24, 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mostly Great, but a little frustrating We bought the student and teacher kit, and I would say that the material seems to be great, plus my kids are really enjoying it! However, it has been very difficult to figure out where everything is located. The manipulatives are not organized very well, nor is it marked very well WHERE to find the resources you need each day. At one point it says that you can find a certain song on the Phonics CD, and that the other song is on an optional CD, (which I had no idea what that was because I thought we ordered everything), and it turns out they are both on the same CD. I wish they would have just written that so I didn't have to figure it out on my own! So I think it just needs a little more organization. I need things spelled out for me exactly, that's what I was hoping for in buying a curriculum set like this. That's my only complaint. As I'm teaching it every day, we are enjoying the content and the kids have fun and are learning with the worktexts. So I have no complaints there. :) August 11, 2014
