Rated 4 out of 5 by Wonderful Curriculum I am enjoying this year's set-up of the 4rth Grade curriculum. Instead of the CD for parents to print out, everything is already prepared and I can just place it in the binder. I can prepare my son's school work with ease. My only suggestion is that the font letters for parents guide needs to be more clearer in photocopy and a little bigger. It is hard for me to read. The Social/History Studies, some topics may not go along with the California Standards but my son loves it and we just supplement it with what we do not have. Otherwise, wonderful curriculum! Keep placing emphasis on God and the Bible in all the classes. We appreciate that. My son loves his teachers. Thanks BJU! September 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by BJU Press DVD's has simplified our homeschool This is the first year I am using a DVD with books curriculum. My son is in 4th grade and I have tried lots of different homeschool approaches. This is my favorite by far. These teachers are able to make each class far more interesting than I can. My son and I are enjoying school this year and he is learning so much better. Thank you for this wonderful homeschool opption!! I will be using BJU DVD's and books from now on! September 12, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Grade 4 with Books Grade 4 DVD with books is a good program. The good: Bible and English are very good, student can work independently. I really like how English alternates Grammar and Writing. Science and Math are good. I do wish the teacher assigned the entire work text in Math instead of moving to the fact reviews and extra reviews. I have my student do the work text first and then, only if needed, do the extra reviews. Reading is good, but is a lot of work. We do not do all assigned pages on this. I do like the book links a lot. The bad: History--you only get the student notebook b/c this is the older edition. The notebook does not contain any study pages. Due to this, studying for tests is quite difficult and very involved. We have moved to open book tests in History b.c of this. Spelling is the older edition. I like the newer edition that is not DVD better. We do use the older edition, but skip the journal part. I hope they update the DVD's to meet the current/latest edition in the texts. I would recommend BJU DVD overall. I think it is a sold Biblical program. September 2, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Overall a good product My son is using this product and he likes it. However, it is very frustrating to him (and me) that the lesson stops in the middle of a lesson and you have to go back out to the main menu and select the next section to finish the lesson. It's not very easy to get back to the main menu and find the right lesson. He does like all the neat characters in the videos, it makes it more interesting to him. August 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by LOVE BJU This was our 4th year with BJU. LOVE BJU Distance Learning!! However, the printed Teacher's Edition being replaced with a CD was a HUGE disappointment! I can't imagine a single parent wanting to insert/remove a CD every time you want to utilize the Teacher's materials. Ended up ordering the printed edition, which was an extra expense. Not sure why the price of the DVD distance learning did not decrease when the printed Teacher's Edition was eliminated. To my knowledge, the DVDs and student materials were not new this year. As for the teacher's...they are great! Our daughter can hardly wait to start 5th grade after seeing some of her favorite teachers on the 5th grade list. May 19, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Love it but TE in paper not CD-ROM We have used this K5 for all three kids. Absolutely love it...but the CD-ROM replacement of the TE in paper is NOT a good change. March 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by It as been a big help It's a relief for me as a homeschool mom. I trust the curriculum. September 29, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Would recommend DVD's however lack of printed materials needed are a major downfall to this curriculum. I have homeschooled for 13 years. This is my first year to use BJU Press DVD's. I have never used any type of DVD program before. After speaking with several homeschooling moms I chose BJU over Abeka. I love the teachers and the content of the videos. However, the biggest complaint I have is with the printed material. I would have rather paid extra upfront and received all the printed material I needed rather than continuously print out extra materials. I wish someone from BJU press would have explained to me about this treacherous task that was before me. I do not have a multi purpose copier or printer, just the basic deskjet type, which is very costly to print large amounts on. After reading more reviews on this product I realized that this has been an issue for a while. I would recommend BJU Videos to other parents, but I would definitely warn them about the difficulty of finding out what is necessary to print and then printing or ordering those items. Most homeschooling parents have multiple children and trying to determine what has been needed to print or order has consumed an enormous amount of time. September 25, 2013
