Rated 4 out of 5 by Kristalyn Fifth grade online classes
I love BJU material! I was just disappointed with some of the teachers for the 5th grade online classes. Mrs. Dunn (English and Science) speaks down to the kids. She would do better teaching a lower grade. My kids have a hard time with the math teacher. They say she speaks too quickly and doesn't make the material interesting. She doesn't make it her own. My kids love Mrs. Walker (Heritage Studies)! I don't like how the math and heritage studies lessons are broken up into parts. Too much distraction to get to the next part.

Rated 4 out of 5 by KEMC Excellent education - very long day
My son has a late summer birthday. I sort of have him in between grades. He is doing 4th grade BJU English, 3rd grade BJU handwriting (cursive is new to him), 5th grade BJU math, 5th BJU reading, 5th grade BJU science, and All About Spelling. I am still trying to find time to start BJU Bible with him. There just doesn't seem to be enough time in a day. I have completely given up on BJU Heritage Studies. He is in Classical Conversations and is reading through The Story of the World. I am positive that BJU provides an excellent education. For the most part, my son really enjoys the lectures. It would be MUCH better if the videos were shorter. He simply does not have the attention span for each class to take an hour (30 min video and around 30 min for an assignment). BJU gives you 1.5 years of online access. As much as I don't want to, I have a feeling we will be completing this year's work next fall. I just don't want to squash any love of learning he has with extremely long school days. One advantage of homeschooling is supposed to be more time to play with your siblings and be outside. BJU distance learning is not conducive to that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by HomeschoolHarvest Perfect for us
Our family has found BJU online subjects to be a perfect fit for us. My son, who is dyslexic, says the classes are engaging and fun, and he loves the teachers. We think the mix of online class instruction and individual work such as the student work text is appropriate. We are very happy with the online classes we have used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LBellaire Excellent resource for learning history
Didn't know what we were missing in our history lessons until we started BJU Heritage Studies. The lessons are very informative and thorough. My son is really enjoying his teacher and the work that comes along with the class.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Alice My Daughter Loves It!!
My daughter loves the DLO HS5! Over Christmas we had to stop her from doing school to come to the table. Mrs. Walker is a wonderful teacher who encourages her to do her best. I love the grading part. She is highly motivated to keep her grades up because she sees the grade after each quiz and test. If she had her way, she would stop everything else and just do Heritage Studies all day. She has learned so much already. She even did a speech in a speech competition about the Wright Brothers! Thank you for making school so fun for her.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Annaz BJU Math 5
I love BJU Math! However, I have to say I don't care for this DL version at all. I tried the DL because the TM is quite cumbersome for Mom and I think BJU is fantastic. I just can't teach it.
We found the video to be extremely boring. It was listening to a lecture and at times she just went on and on to where dd just started to tune out. Frankly, I did as well. Her hand gestures were extremely distracting. For us it would have been better if she was showing how it's done at the same time she was teaching and this video made into separate elements. I definitely wouldn't recommend this video if your kids aren't audio learners. Neither of us found it engaging. I'd recommend the visuals to be shown while she's teaching, otherwise it's simply a lecture for mostly 30 minutes.
It took a while to understand the several videos as I didn't find a place that explained why one lesson had so many. I understood it after I played around with it. I had two videos out of the 4 that we watched that we unable to fast forward after 40+ seconds, as the counter would disappear. But it was not my computer, since other lessons worked. That was the first video we tried.
I also don't think the teaching needs to be this long. But in all, I've seen better versions, this one, unfortunately isn't it. I'm bummed, because I love BJU math, but it won't work for us.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mmg2004 I am very happy with the curriculum.
My son and daughter both enjoy the English 5th grade online teaching. This is our first year using BJU for our homeschooling. Based on our experience so far we hope to expand our use of BJU to more subjects next year. The visuals, videos, characters, and puppets bring interest to the subject and make the learning more enjoyable for the kids.

Rated 4 out of 5 by G3Parent So far so good.
We've only just started with the online class. So far I really like it. The online lecture is short and to the point. The teacher is pleasant to listen to and easy to understand. And, the daily lesson plan/requirements are easy to follow.
