Grade 8 Complete Kit
In grade 8, your child will read literature selections from other cultures and evaluate them from a biblical worldview in Excursions in Literature. He or she will learn about American history in The American Republic and study about the earth, minerals, and water in Earth Science. In Writing & Grammar 8, your child will hone his or her writing skills with a business letter, a news story, a character profile, and more. Finally, Pre-Algebra will prepare your child for advanced algebra courses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jamie American Republic is a great eight grade history curriculum!
I have used BJU Press subject kits for eight years and would never make a change. They are a solid biblically based curriculum. American Republic goes in-depth about our American history! Compared to other books I have looked at, it has no comparison. I would defiantly recommend this to anyone wanting to homeschool!

My students have liked this curriculum; however, it has been difficult for them to grasp on their own. The students have been challenged and I am hopeful it has prepared them for Algebra 1. I have two 8th graders. One was able to teach herself until she got to chapter 6. The other needed a lot of assistance starting with chapter 4. They believe things could be explained better in the book and there should be consistency in the vocabulary used in the text and on the tests. It has been frustrating having the terms changed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Matsy Great tool. I've learned things that I didn't know before about some presidents. Great Biblical integration.
I am enjoying using this book. There are great anecdotes that are in my book that the students don't have. I have learned a lot of different things about our former presidents. I like how the content shows that history does, indeed, repeat itself when a nation turns from God. I also like how the chapters are laid out including the objectives. That makes my teaching much more focused and on target.

My daughter benefited from the test material as it covered the chapter information very well and thoroughly. We wish the tests and the answer keys were part of the 8th grade kit. Thank you for your superb work in making excellent homeschool material.

My son used this text for 7th grade. He is currently using a rigorous Algebra 1 text in 8th grade. I feel BJU pre-algebra text prepared him properly for Algebra 1. I appreciate how BJU Press always finds a way to give glory to our God throughout the text. My daughter who is currently in 7th grade is now using this pre-algebra text. Though math may not come as easily to her as her brother, she has been successful with it and will also be prepared for the same Algebra text as her brother. Oh, and both their national standardized tests in math has been in the high 90 percentiles...98% usually...not bragging...just using a solid curriculum.
