What are the computer system requirements for using the hard drive program?
To use the hard drive program your computer must meet the minimum system requirements listed below. If the computer does not meet the system requirements, the Distance Learning program may appear to install, but it will not be fully operational.
- Processor: Pentium class, 1 GHz processor or the equivalent
- Operating System: Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, (32-bit or 64-bit), Windows Vista (32-bit or 64-bit), or Windows XP service pack 2
- Memory: Minimum of 512MB RAM (or more as required by the operating system*)
- USB Port: An available USB 2.0 port
- Monitor Resolution: Lessons are best viewed at 1024 x 768 screen resolution
- Speakers: External speakers with adjustable volume control recommended
*Note: Windows Vista and Windows 7, 8, and 10 users will need a minimum of 1 Gigabyte of RAM, but 2 Gigabytes is recommended for optimum efficiency.
Can I install the hard drive on more than one computer?
The hard drive may be installed on multiple computers as long as each computer meets the system requirements.
Is the hard drive laptop compatible?
The hard drive may be used with a laptop or desktop as long as the computer meets the system requirements specified for use with the laptop. Using the hard drive on a laptop allows for excellent mobility with the hard drive program.
Is the hard drive time sensitive?
Yes, since the hard drive program is a 13-month lease, the hard drive depends on the date and time information on the computer that it is installed to. Before installing the hard drive product to the computer you will need to make sure that the date and time on the computer are correct (double-check the day, month, and year).
Can I use the hard drive on any user account on my computer?
The user must have full administrative rights in order to install the Distance Learning program. Once installed, the hard drive may be used on any user account on that computer.
Will the hard drive class files take up a large amount of my computer’s hard drive space?
The Distance Learning program installs minimal files on your computer's hard drive. These files will not take up much space as all class files remain resident on the external hard drive we provide.
Can I view the hard drive classes on my television?
The hard drive must be connected to a computer via a USB cable in order to view the Distance Learning programs.
Is the hard drive program available for use with a Macintosh computer?
We do not offer a Mac-compatible hard drive.
With what computers and operating systems will the hard drive work?
The hard drive is currently available only for use with PC (IBM compatible) computers using Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 & 8 & 10 as the operating system.
Can I use the hard drive on a computer network?
Our hard drive is not designed for network use.
