K5 Distance Learning teaches kindergarteners to apply their natural curiosity and start to develop a broad base of interests and gives them the basic tools they need to explore the world around them. In K5 Beginnings, Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Lawson teach listening, oral composition, phonics, and reading comprehension while integrating art, science, and heritage studies concepts. K5 Math with Mrs. Rulapaugh helps your student begin developing a solid foundation of math concepts by using creative activities, games, and colorful manipulatives.
The Beginnings program provides thorough instruction for teaching phonics and reading skills. It follows an integrated approach that includes skills for listening and responding with oral and written composition. Complete Science and Heritage Studies units are woven into the themes. Mrs. Lawson has five years' experience teaching in the classroom and over ten years at BJU Distance Learning. "One of my goals in teaching is to help your child feel successful at his present level and to encourage him to improve. I wanted to be a teacher from the time I was a little girl, and I’m thankful to the Lord for letting me teach your child through this Distance Learning program."
Mrs. Walker has 38 years of teaching experience in traditional classrooms and via distance learning. “My first love is to teach a child to read-primarily so that he can read God’s Word for himself and share it with others. He should be able to appreciate what he reads, draw conclusions, and make value judgments to become a thinker.”
Mrs. Rulapaugh has ten years of teaching experience. Since joining the BJU Press Distance Learning team in 2017, she has developed her style to link her lessons to the natural world by studying the order, pattern, and creativity in God’s design. Her goal for her students is for them to be in awe of their Creator and to see Him as the great and might God He is.
