Chemistry explores the structure and composition of matter and how matter interacts with other kinds of matter. Students will learn about macroscopic and microscopic changes in matter in chemical reactions, solutions, acids and bases, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and nuclear changes. Mr. Harmon’s goal is for students to gain understanding in science and to increase their abilities to use logic to solve complex problems.
Daily lessons will include a brief review and introductions to any new material. Mr. Harmon relates new material to familiar concepts so the material comes together as a coherent whole. Lessons will conclude with another opportunity for review. Students should also expect and prepare for regular lab activities.
A segment series that explores the elements on the periodic table and looks at where these elements can be found.
To encourage detailed notetaking, guided notes are available for the students to complete and expand on during lessons.
Quizlets are available to help students review chapter terms.
Before lessons, students should complete the assigned reading and review previous content as needed to ensure they still understand material from previous lessons.
After lessons, students should finish lab activities, take quizzes or tests that are due, answer assigned review questions, and—most importantly—review the day’s notes to ensure they understand all new material introduced.
