Mrs. Sarah Lawson, BS

Mrs. Sarah Lawson, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningMrs. Lawson previously taught kindergarten for four years. "One of my goals in teaching is to help your child feel successful at his present level and to encourage him to improve. Throughout the lessons, we talk about simple yet extremely important concepts, such as ‘God made me special,’ and ‘God gave me the Bible.’ I enjoy talking about these things with the children through the lessons. I wanted to be a teacher from the time I was a little girl, and I’m thankful to the Lord for letting me teach your child through this Distance Learning program."

Mrs. Sherri Vick, BS

Mrs. Sherri Vick, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningSherri Vick previously taught various elementary and junior high grades. "I like to look at the picture as a whole—to relate one subject to another so that the child can see how God’s plan fits together. I want the child to want to learn, so the lessons have to be fun. Hands-on is the best way, so I don’t want the student to just watch, but participate too! One of my goals is that, after watching the lessons, your child will continue in the things he has learned and develop lifelong learning skills that he can use both now and in the future."

Mrs. Debra Overly, BS, MS

Mrs. Debra Overly, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningMrs. Overly, a mother of three, has experience teaching several elementary grades. "I want to encourage each child to look forward to learning each day and also to provide sufficient practice and review activities to help alleviate mom’s workload. Most importantly, I want to present Christ in each subject that I teach. Each child should hear the gospel and then see in a very practical way how it can change a sinner."

Mrs. Jennifer Cox, BS

Mrs. Jennifer Cox, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningMrs. Cox, who previously taught third grade and worked for the BJU Press, continues teaching elementary grades for BJU Press Distance Learning. "Being the mother of three children is quite an education in itself. Dealing with my own children gives me insight into the minds and hearts of young children. I want each child who finishes [a] BJU Press Distance Learning grade to come away with a very sound, excellent education. One way I try to do this is by making each lesson clear and interesting so that the student can grasp the objectives and build on previous knowledge. I want to inspire children to love learning and to understand and believe that only the Christian who trusts God and obeys His Word will live a life filled with blessing and reward."

Mrs. Evanna Walker, BS

Mrs. Evanna Walker, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningMrs. Walker has eight years’ experience teaching first grade at Bob Jones Elementary School. “My first love is to teach a child to read-primarily so that he can read God’s Word for himself and share it with others. He should be able to appreciate what he reads, draw conclusions, and make value judgments to become a thinker.”

Mrs. Ruth Nason, BS

Mrs. Ruth Nason, a course instructor for BJU Press Distance LearningMrs. Nason has taught on the elementary level as well as on the high school level. She believes teaching children is one of the most rewarding jobs. "The reward comes when you get feedback from students communicating to you that they understand. The best part is to see the growth in their lives, not only intellectually but, more important, spiritually. It is a wonderful privilege to be able to teach for BJU Press Distance Learning."

Rated 5 out of 5 by We love Distance Learning! I didn't give value 5 stars because I do think its a bit expensive and It would be nice to lower the price if you don't use all the subjects. Didn't give 5 stars on ease of use only because we wanted to use our Tablet and it at this point is not working. I did see that this problem is bring worked on and I believe it will be taken care of. Everything is very well organized and easy to use more so then other pregames we have used. Well done for sure! Biblical integrity as we have seen it woven through other subjects is great and well done. I am not Dispensational so we use other things for bible as some of the teaching is dispensational. We love it though and have used ABeka and S.O.S.. This is so much better for our kids as online programs go. July 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Vacation Stations I think it is of great value to keep things fresh over the summer months. We used these several years ago with our own kids, and when I was considering prizes for a vacation-themed drawing in my Facebook homeschooling group, of course Vacation Stations came to mind! BJU Press was gracious enough to donate a copy, and our winner was thrilled to receive it! Thank you! July 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Our parents that use them love them Our school parents have ordered these for a number of years and they love them. Once they have ordered them once they usually re-order July 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for summer break! My soon to be 4th grader is using this book over the summer break. It is just enough for him to have a little review of a math and language arts concept each day, with a little fun mixed in periodically. July 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works for us I find that the Vacation Stations is a reasonable amount of work each day to keep the start of school from being too challenging. The concepts are consistent with where my child was in their learning from their grade. July 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great summer revision book This book is good and I will be buying it again. My son prefers this to another workbook that I bought before. June 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by LOVE! But... I LOVE BJU Distance for learning!!! Although, I would order the physical Teacher's Edition books next time. I also don't like how non-user friendly the Mom log-in things are... I find it difficult to find the suppliment pages - navigation took me a while as well. September 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very good for a new homeschooling parent I bought the 3rd grade and Kindergarten curriculum for my kids and bumped my 3rd grader up a year in math. It was a wonderful choice. The videos could be brought into the 21st century, but the teaching is very well done and my kids find it interesting. I especially love the bible class and the memory verses. God and Jesus are incorporated into each subject. As a new homeschooling parent, I feel very confident in the curriculum. September 3, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent choice for summer!! The kids love their Vacation Stations books. They look forward to doing them every summer. They can keep their minds active and remember and learn new things. June 17, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Absolutely love!! We are switching from public school to homeschool and a BJU representative suggested using the Vacation Station as a transition. My daughter looks forward to each days lessons. It not only helps us to adjust to homeschooling but also where she is expected to be academically for next year. We can't wait to get the 4th grade cirriculam!! Thank you, BJU!! June 11, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Vacation station going into 4th grade Organized concise and simple to use. Kids really love to use product, keeps children sharp throughout summer. June 1, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent product! As a homeschooling mom with four kids, I needed a top notch curriculum that would work for varied age groups and not overwhelm me. BJU Press has provided that blessing. With my 3rd grade son, I provide simple materials that I can usually find at the grocery store, occasionally clarify instructions or help him know where to find answers to workbook questions, assist on projects (most of which are labeled as OPTIONAL), and grade his work. We use the online option, so nearly everything I need is neatly laid out on the website including daily links to my grading materials. BJU Press makes my part simple. It did take a few weeks to figure out where to find everything, so I gave the 'ease of use' 4 stars. My son requires mild supervision to stay focused. The videos, however, are much more entertaining than listening to me teach the subject matter. We are both very pleased at this point (half way through the curriculum). I love the piece of mind that my children are receiving an excellent, well-rounded education from fun and knowledgable instructors who love the Lord and love to teach! April 4, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not a favorite. Too expensive as a single class. Which is a pity because it all we needed. And my son (3rd grade) felt the video presentation was too babyish. We might use these products again for upper grades, but not anytime soon. February 23, 2013
