Bible 7: The Story of the Old Testament offers an overview of the Old Testament and encourages students to build connections between Old Testament narratives and the big story of Scripture—the Creation, Fall, Redemption narrative. Mr. Spurgeon’s goal is to teach students to study their Bibles by using the inductive Bible study approach. Then, they can develop their beliefs and values based on Scripture and apply those beliefs to their personal behavior.
Video lessons will cover material they have read in their textbooks. Provided guided notes will help them take good notes. Some lessons will include part of a student activity in class, and students will often complete a practice observation activity, for which they will be directed to pause the lesson and complete a task for discussion later. Students will also complete regular prayer journal assignments and learn one memory verse per unit.
Short segments that give humorous overviews of certain Old Testament topics.
Short segments featuring teens giving oral reports on Bible characters.
Longer segments that teach simple Bible study methods and hermeneutical principles. These segments give the student a hands-on approach to learning the Bible that allows them to take ownership of learning.
Students should read the assigned reading for the day’s lesson before beginning the video. When they begin the day’s lesson, they should have their textbook and guided notes ready to go. Throughout the year, students should pray for their learning experience.
Students will have short assignments, a project, and memory verses to study. They should also prepare for upcoming tests with regular study time.

Mr. Spurgeon has taught in various ministry situations for over 20 years is eager to help his students develop a passion for the Bible. He’d like his students to grow in their desire to read and study the Bible on their own. When he’s not teaching, he loves being with his family and spending time doing goofy things with his children. He and his wife have 6 children and 1 grandchild. Yes, he is distantly related to Charles Haddon Spurgeon.
